Storage & Washing Instructions for your Happy Heinys One-Size Pocket Diapers

• Shake any solids into the toilet. No need to rinse or soak; solids should fall right off the fleece.
• Remove the insert(s) from the shell and place all together into a dry pail
• If your diaper has a velcro closure, affix the velcro to the laundry tabs on the inside of the diaper so they don't gather lint during the washing process.
• On wash day, toss all diapers and inserts together into the washing machine
• Run a cold rinse or cold soak. Consider a 15-20 minute soak if diapers are highly soiled
• Wash on hot water with 1/2 to 1/4 of the recommended amount of detergent
• Run a rinse (any temperature). If possible, run a second rinse to ensure all the detergent has been rinsed out.
• If diapers have a strong urine smell, you may add some vinegar to the first rinse (after the hot wash).
• Tumble dry or line-dry. Happy Heinys recommends the use of the dryer on high heat to keep the diaper fabrics and velcro functioning like new.

What to look for in a Detergent?

At best, a detergent to be used on your baby's diapers would NOT contain enzymes, dyes, perfumes, optical brighteners or any other component designed to be left on your diapers after washing.

Specialty detergents with fabric softeners or wrinkle guards will not be suitable; however, a detergent with non-chlorine bleach or oxygen bleaching capabilities may be fine. Please note that many "natural" detergents may incorporate the use of essential oils as softeners. Oils coat the diaper fabric, and can cause repelling of liquids (the very last thing you want your diaper to do!) Please avoid the use of detergents which contain oils. Diaper rash creams can also cause repelling. If a cream is necessary, either place a small wash cloth on top of the fleece or use a diaper liner to protect the diaper surface from cream transfer.

The use of chlorine bleach will void all warranties associated with Happy Heinys products and can lead to the breakdown of the waterproof layer of our fabric, making the diaper unusable.
